Power supply is key in all the areas of operation in the country and individual business operations. The need to ensure that this is not disrupted and is continuously provided at the highest level is of paramount importance. Detecting and measuring Partial Discharge (PD) activities give a unique insight into the conditions of Mid Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) assets without the need for expensive shutdowns or invasive testing. This course is targeted to deliver a competency in Condition Monitoring for High Voltage Asset and Asset Management through accurate condition assessment.
Course content includes
• Background of Partial Discharge: Classification, interference, environmental factors and electromagnetic and ultrasonic detection
• Measurement Procedures: Checking for background interference and source location
• Measurement Techniques: Using a variety of Partial Discharge instruments
• Reporting and Analysis of Results: Visual examinations and Direct measures

This course aims for learners to acquire knowledge on High Voltage Partial Discharge Theory and skills in performing Partial Discharge measurement, monitoring and analysis. Improve asset management through accurate condition assessment

2. Tools and instruments for maintenance inspections and condition monitoring

4. Trouble shooting on plants and equipment during condition monitoring
5. Recording results of maintenance inspections and conditioning monitoring
On completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Apply fundamentals and types of maintenance work and procedures to perform condition monitoring on plants, equipment and systems
2. Select and use tools and instruments for maintenance inspections and condition monitoring
3. Perform routine condition monitoring, inspection and tests of assigned plants, equipment or systems while applying maintenance work instructions and safe work procedures
4. Perform system trouble shooting on plants and equipment during condition monitoring
5. Record and log results of maintenance inspections and conditioning monitoring in system
